Rachel Hackett
Rachel Hackett was born and raised in Portland, ME. She loved horses as a girl and
began riding at the age of 8. Over the years she has ridden in many disciplines,
including Combined Training, Huntseat, Stock Seat, and Dressage. In 2002 she graduated
from Smith College in Northampton, MA, where she rode on the Equestrian Team for
four years.
Since graduating Rachel has worked as a professional instructor at many riding schools,
including Rock Creek Park Horse Center in Washington, DC, and Fox Meadow Farm at
Smith College. She is currently a MA licensed instructor. Her experience working
with many different types of people and horses has inspired her to seek out training
methods that actively promote the physical and emotional health and well-being of
horse and rider.
Rachel is currently studying to become certified as a Connected Riding Instructor
(for more information, please visit
www.connectedriding.com).
In addition to pursuing proficiency in Connected Groundwork and Connected Riding,
Rachel also draws inspiration from Centered Riding, TTouch and TTeam, her personal
yoga practice, and her ongoing inquiry into human and equine modes of learning.
